Understanding How Dental
Insurance Works

Dental office reception desk

You might think that dental insurance works similarly to medical insurance, but the big difference is that medical insurance is primarily designed to deal with emergency situations while dental insurance is built around prevention. That means that your plan will offer more coverage for biannual checkups and cleanings than it will for restorative treatments. Therefore, to maximize your benefits, it is in your best interest to schedule an appointment at our dental office every six months.

What Your Dental Insurance
Plan Covers

Dental treatment room

Most major dental insurance plans will cover preventive services such as routine checkups at or near 100%. Basic restorative care (such as fillings) normally receives around 70% to 80% coverage, while more extensive treatments are usually in the range of 50% to 60% coverage. This is by no means set in stone; not all dental insurance providers follow the same structure or cover the same services. It’s recommended that you reach out to your provider so that you can confirm the scope of your coverage.

Our In-Network PPO Dental Insurance Providers

Being in-network with a number of major PPO insurances means that we have accepted pre-negotiated rates for a wide range of services. You can potentially save money by choosing an in-network provider, but it should be noted that out-of-network plans are still welcomed; we’ll still file all the necessary claims for you, and we can even help you develop a plan for maximizing your reimbursement. Below is a list of dental insurance plans that we accept:

  • Delta Premier
  • Aetna
  • Guardian (Liberty)
  • Cigna
  • United Concordia (Elite only)
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (Grid only)
  • Fidelio
  • And many more!
