Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Growing up, Dr. Filangeri always knew she wanted to help people and work in the healthcare field. As a kid, she watched her father run a dental practice and always enjoyed hearing how much his patients loved to see him—it made her feel like dentistry was the perfect profession for her.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Filangeri completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Dayton before attending the University of Pennsylvania for dental school. She graduated from Penn with Honors in Community Oral Health and focused her efforts on bringing quality dentistry to infants and young children who don’t have access to care.
After graduating, Dr. Filangeri served in the United States Navy as a dentist. While there, she completed additional training in extractions and operative dentistry. Today, she’s an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and New Jersey State Dental Association.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Filangeri is originally from Long Island, New York. Whenever she isn’t at the dental office, she likes to spend her days traveling, reading, baking, hiking, and with family and friends.
